Somedays, like today, the news of innocent animals being callously and unnecessarily murdered at the hands of heartless humans is more unbearable than others.

This morning, WAN learned the tragic news that six lions were poisoned and killed at the Mystic Monkeys & Feathers Wildlife Park north of Pretoria in South Africa. Tainted chicken that was heavily laced with poison was reportedly thrown over an electric fence that surrounded the lions.

Unfathomably, four of the unsuspecting animals were also mutilated by the perpetrators who cut off their heads and paws, likely used for black magic.

“We are so sad to announce that we have lost 6 lions from poaching, 3 white lions and 3 brown lions,” Mystic Monkeys & Feathers Wildlife Park shared on its Facebook page calling the travesty a pitiful disgrace. “Just as we thought that we are playing our part in conservation, awareness, and protection of these animals, people come and do this.”
According to Pretoria News, the victims included two white male lions and the remaining were four brown lions.

Horrifically, of the brown lions slaughtered, there was a three-to-four-year-old male and female, as well as two that were estimated to be approximately six months old.
While the culprits have not been located yet, the Limpopo police and private security company, Hi-Risk Unit, reportedly found a lot of evidence at the scene which reflected that the poachers were most-likely in a hurry.

Mystic Monkeys owner Christa Saayman told the news outlets that they are convinced that one of their employees was involved in the deplorable incident as none of the fences were cut and it seemed as if the culprits jumped over the electric fence or gate.

Police have asked that anyone with information about the criminals, please contact, Colonel Alpheus Mokale at 082-565-6524, Crime Stop 08600-10111, Crimeline SMS 32211, or the nearest police station.

Hi-Risk, which has also offered a monetary reward for anyone with information leading to the arrest of these sick individuals also posted that people can call 0823731717 or 0861707777 with any information.
