Don’t you hate it when...

...people title their posts like this? I hate click bait and I hate crappy titles, so if you skipped reading this post I completely understand.

I always put in a lot of thought into my titles and sometimes the entire post is written before I have one. Please stop doing this! I promise I will never do it again.

Anyways, I was out in the woods today chainsawing, swamping, and chopping. We have had some really nice weather here in Northern Germany and we are getting visitors from the U.S. next week so I wanted to take care of this while I could.

It took me all day cutting and splitting but I got about a month's worth of firewood out of it which was really needed because with me being home all day we burn a lot of it.

Plus, in the fall my wife’s uncle cut three of his fingers off with a circular saw so our family stepped up and donated a trailer full of firewood and that ate up most of our reserves.

Today, I cut up a smaller tree and then I cut off 8 rounds from this ginormous pine. I would say 20 to 25-inch width, and that is pushing it for my cheapo chainsaw. I managed 9 rounds which turned into a large stack of firewood once split.

In the above picture you can see the size of one of those rounds here. It's sitting on my splitting stump and is about the same size, if not bigger.

What I lack with a cheapo chainsaw I more than makeup with this fine Fiskars X25 axe. I can easily split those large rounds with this bad boy and nothing feels better when you split one on the first swing.

These ones here were pretty knotty pines so I had to work a little harder than normal to get them split but it was easy work with the axe.

Here you can get a good idea of how big those rounds were.

Like I said in a previous post, these trees have been down for a few years now and are hanging off the ground so they are perfectly treated and ready to go in the fireplace as soon as they are split.

We rely mostly on wood to heat our house and even though the winters here are very mild, it is a really nice option to have. I am grateful we have an endless supply of wood right outside the back door.

Have a good week everyone!

Cut off 3 fingers?! Yikes! What kind of temps are you having there right now and how warm do you usually keep your house? Oh, and do you click on those posts with clickbait titles or do you just skip right over them?

In the day we are in mod 40s and drop down to low 20s/teens at night. We keep the downstairs pretty warm and sleep with the windows open upstairs. Sometimes I click on them but I usually regret it lol

I think those title styles are coming from the Appics front-end. It seems to be how it works; it enters the first part of your first sentence as the title.

Hahaha is That what it is?!? 🤣 I thought it was the newest clickbait trend that makes sense.

I thought you'd started posting on Appics. 😉😆

Nothing quite like a little manual labour and the satisfaction of a job done well. Have a great rest of the week.

You too! Thanks for stopping by.

No worries...Will do.

What's your take on the Iran thing?

Not really sure yet... more questions than anything. Like why did the US allow the missiles to strike? They could have easily intercepted them. All dog and pony show. I am someone who will never believe anything I see or hear from the gov/media. Try to ignore it mostly but I still have to check in to make sure my family is safe.

Yeah, fair point re: the media and govt. Assholes mainly. To be honest I haven't seen a lot about it and so don't have an opinion however figure I need to have a clue as it seems to be looking like it might blow out.

As always an honor! Thank you very much!

I have the smaller Fiskars axe, thing is great!

And the best part is they are guaranteed for life! I see a lot of complaints about the metal but as far as I can see it’s the best axe out there.

Howdy sir badger! That's a great deal to have the woods so close. It sounds like lots of folks use wood for heating there. I love that axe! I need a good one like that.

Why are you voting for the tron-it witnesses?

Should be fixed. Thought I was voting for ours... thanks for letting me know
